Xiaomi India confirms the “Find Device Closed Unexpectedly” error in MIUI 12

We have already reported that the “Find Device Closed Unexpectedly” error after MIUI 12 update is the only reason for the frustration of too many or we can say thousands of Xiaomi, Redmi & POCO branded smartphone owners. The biggest problem after popping up of this error is, smartphones are automatically rebooting themselves.

Okay, we don’t want to take credit for this but we were one of the first websites to raise this issue by highlighting user’s reactions about the same on social media.

Now, we have a piece of great news for you guys. Xiaomi India has officially acknowledged that the above-mentioned issue exists in their smartphones. The company has also confirmed that they are working to resolve this issue & it will be fixed in the upcoming software update.

Find Device Closed Unexpectedly error in MIUI 12 | Who is affected?

This is happening with almost everyone who is using services provided by the “Airtel India” network operator. Harmeen Mehta, Global CIO (Chief Information Officer) of Airtel India has officially confirmed this:

Whenever a Xiaomi/Redmi/POCO smartphone user is trying to enable “Ultra battery saver” mode, his device immediately starts to reboot itself then after boot-up it shows the “Find Device Closed Unexpectedly” error & this is happening only after MIUI 12 update.

Official Statement | How to solve this?

While replying to a user, Mi India’s support team has said:

“..we certainly understand that your device is continuously rebooting after getting a toast pop-up “Find device closed unexpectedly”. We would like to inform you that we are aware of the issue and an update will be rolled out shortly”.

Furthermore, the company is suggesting its users un-install the “Airtel App” for the next two weeks & not use “Ultra Battery Saver” mode until the upcoming software update containing a “fix” starts to rollout:

“..if you’re able to use the device for some time before the phone reboots then we request you to disable Ultra Battery Saver mode from the phone settings. Go to Settings – Search “Ultra” – Open Ultra battery saver – Turn off (Disable). Also, disable the Find device option from the settings. Please uninstall the Airtel app, and we request you to not install the app for the next two weeks.”

Based on our reader’s feedback, we can confirm un-installing the “Airtel Thanks” App is helpful to several users who were previously facing the “Find Device Closed Unexpectedly” error after MIUI 12 update.

For those who have complaints regarding they don’t have sufficient time to use their phone for removing App Or to disable any feature, do the following: Keep your phone in a switched off condition for at least 30 minutes. After that, start it again & you’ll have some time to apply the above recommended temporary solution.
