Since 2017, Nokia smartphones powered by Android/Android One/Android Go are always one of the first devices (if not only after Google Pixel lineup) that get monthly updates. According to this report, October 2020 security patch update has already started to roll out for Nokia 8.1 but the problem is, owners of this mid-range smartphone are not getting it in India.

As of now, it is only available in select countries like Egypt & users from other markets including India are still having their Nokia 8.1 on September 2020 update or even older. We have attached some tweets below where users are complaining about the same to Nokia Mobile:

Is it really started to roll out?

For sure it is but only for select countries. Here’s is screenshot from Nokia’s official website which confirms the update:

What could be reason for delay?

Most of the time, all smartphone brands (who care about their customers) give software updates in 2 or more phases. It depends on locations & some other important approvals. Not getting an October 2020 security update at the scheduled time is definitely not good news for Nokia 8.1 users but maybe Nokia Mobile had some issues roll out it in India.

You can expect it to arrive in the coming days but we don’t know exactly when.

Update (November 17th): As per a new report November 2020 security patch has now started to roll out for Nokia 8.1 users across several markets like Egypt & Uganda but users in India are still waiting for the same.

Update (November 23rd): Great news guys. As per the newly available information, we can confirm that the November 2020 security patch is now rolling out for Nokia 8.1 users in India. It is around 8 MB in size:

Just pick your Nokia 8.1 & check for the system update in the settings.
